It is Pentecost Sunday, where we will once again tell the dramatic story of the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church. Traditionally, this is a day when people join the church, and so we are very pleased to be welcoming four people by baptism and profession of faith this week. In Rev. Meyers’ sermon "The Empty Seat", we will consider the mission and purpose of the church in this time of rapid change and disruption for our denomination.
Prelude: Various (Duruflé; J.S. Bach)
Readings: Psalm 104:24-34, 35b; Acts 2:1-21
Anthems: Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit (Spiritual arr. Dawson); If Ye Love Me (Tallis)
Sermon: “The Empty Seat" (Rev. Jason Meyers)
Offertory: Air, from Orchestral Suite in D Major
