"What are you giving up for Lent?" is a common phrase we hear at this time in the church's liturgical year. We also hear words like repentance, penitence, asceticism, and self-mortification (eek!). In this, our first Sunday in the season of Lent, we will dig into the meaning of this season, the importance of spiritual disciplines, and how Jesus's pilgrimage in the desert provides a model for finding and living into our mission.
