Paul Scott Wilson writes: "Baptism is being plunged into a new way of living, being and acting in the world. It is connected to social responsibility and service towards others. It is a conversion that literally turns someone towards God and towards each other." Sounds pretty good... and yet, in mainline denominations like ours, baptism numbers have fallen off a cliff. In Rev. Meyers's sermon this week “In The Depths”, we'll consider how Jesus's baptism can offer us a hopeful way of thinking about changes in our church, and how we might reclaim baptism as the transformation act modelled by Jesus himself.
