Orange Shirt Sunday gives us a chance to be introduced to the United Church’s proposal for an Autonomous Indigenous Church, proposed to be alongside, but not controlled by the current structure. As Met prepares to vote in the coming months on whether we agree, we will consider what reconciliation means to us. Our different faith perspectives will guide our response to the question: what does reconciliation with Canada’s Indigenous people mean to each of us in our church context?
